BOTANICA: Plants of Anatolia
The Erimtan Archaeology and Art Museum is hosting BOTANICA: Plants of Anatolia, an exhibition presented in collaboration with the Botanical Artists Committee (BİRET) of the Flora Research Association.
Bringing together works in scientific botanical illustration, the exhibition explores the rich diversity of Anatolia’s plant life through the shared language of art and science.
Alongside the illustrations, the exhibition features herbarium specimens, historical documents, rare books, and other archival materials. Bringing together works by botanists and botanical artists from the past to the present, it also highlights the important role of botanical illustration in the production and preservation of scientific knowledge.
The exhibition features 71 works by 40 artists working in the field of botanical illustration in Türkiye. Created using a variety of illustration techniques, these works accurately capture distinctive features such as leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds, transforming the diversity of the natural world into a compelling visual language.
As part of the Erimtan Archaeology and Art Museum’s exhibition programme, which brings archaeology, art, and different disciplines into dialogue, BOTANICA: Plants of Anatolia also supports the Flora Research Association and BİRET’s aim of introducing botanical illustration to a wider audience.
BOTANICA: Plants of Anatolia can be visited at the Erimtan Archaeology and Art Museum from 26 September 2026 to 10 January 2027.
