Oeuvre and Grace

Erimtan Archaeology and Arts Museum is hosting the Oeuvre and Grace exhibition curated by Derya Yücel. The exhibition aims to establish a contextual relationship between the productions of 20 contemporary artists in different mediums and the Erimtan Museum's archaeological collection from the Roman, Urartian, Hittite, and Byzantine periods. Oeuvre and Grace takes place beyond distinctions such as tradition-contemporary, sophisticated and casual, individual and public, art and life, in that graceful, creative space where thought and performance, art and crafts intermingle. The exhibition titled “Oeuvre and Grace” questions the current meaning of an art history written as the triumph of art over craft, artist over craftsman, and aesthetics over function; focuses on the creative relationship between the multidimensional intellectual expression of art in the social, political, aesthetic and critical context and the forms it creates.
