The Conception of a Capital City: Jaussely's Ankara
Curators: Deniz Altay Baykan and Hatice Karaca
Led by Bilkent University and presented in partnership with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and the Institut Français, this exhibition was supported by lesser known information and documents about the culture of the city and the zoning plan competition from the early days of the Turkish Republic and inspired by architect-urban planner Leon Jaussely’s style of working. Guided by long-lived urban experiences and studies, it tells the story of the Capital that never actualized. The exhibition, which included visuals obtained from the French Government Archives, showcased artist Aslı Gibidir’s installation titled “Tasavvur” (“Conception”), which she created specifically for this exhibition.
