Gencay: The Beginning, The End and Eternity
The first comprehensive exhibition since the passing of Gencay Kasapçı, one of Turkey’s most influential artists, “Gencay: The Beginning, The End and Eternity” unites with viewers at Erimtan Archaeology and Arts Museum.
For the first time in a while, the artist’s works from the period she spent living in Italy and Turkey are shown together in the exhibition. The exhibition features paintings and photographs created in the artistic environment of 1960’s Rome, as well as documents pertaining to the exhibitions she curated that demonstrate her ties with the ZERO collective.
The exhibition is directed by Döne Otyam and copywriting is by Dilek Karaaziz Şener. Hosted in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and sponsored by ASPAT Kültür Vakfı and Mimar Kerem Türker Vakfı, the exhibition will be on view from October 28, 2023 - February 25, 2024, every day except for Mondays between the hours of 10.00-17.00 at the Erimtan Archaeology and Arts Museum.
