Ankara: From Pioneering Modernism to Imitative Mimicry and Fake Futurism
This exhibition presented visitors with a striking reality of Ankara’s urban deformation through the works of photographer Murat Germen. The concepts of city, transformation, conservation, civil memory, and the effects of the changing governments have been opened for debate through past and contemporary examples, and the effects that different urban planning strategies and ideologies of governments have had on cities has been explored.
The exhibition, which featured documentary style A4 sized photographs and digitally manipulated photographic images of panoramas ranging from 3-8 meters, allowed visitors to compare and contrast the city’s current and previous states.
